Beaches in Cagliari
There are two main beaches in Cagliari: Poetto beach is 3 km away from the apartment and can be easily reached by car, bus (stop right in front of the apartment) or by bicycle. There are many bars and establishments to enjoy the sun in every season.
Calamosca beach, behind the Sella del Diavolo is a small South-facing beach well protected by nature and sheltered from the Mistral, the dominant wind in Sardinia. Nearby there are also the small beaches of Cala Fighera and La Paillotte, the latter with a dedicated access to the bar / restaurant and solarium customers.
Also try renting a bike and exploring the “salt pans”. It is a spectacular and unique sight with pink flamingos flying at sunset.

The location of the apartment allows you to be close to the city center and have the sea breeze on your face from the balcony or by walking or cycling on the new “Lungomare”, which leads to via Roma.
From the arcades of Via Roma and its shops, you can enter the Marina district with many restaurants, bars and small local craft shops.
Continuing upwards you arrive in the old and picturesque Castello district. Here you will find the Cathedral, the Archaeological Museum (with part of the nuragic statues of Mont’e Prama, 900-700 BC) and the Pisan Elephant and San Pancrazio Towers.
After admiring the splendid view of Cagliari and its sea from the Umberto I Terrace, you can descend back into the modern city via the 19th century Bastion of Saint Remy. You will find yourself in Piazza Costituzione from which the two pedestrian shopping streets of Cagliari start: Via Manno and Via Garibaldi.
A wonderful boat trip
Cagliari is the headquarter of Luna Rossa base and training location. In the Marina nearby you can rent a beautiful sailing boat to organize daily or multi-day sailing boat trips or, with an extra charge, from Villasimius or Carloforte. Information available on the boat owner’s Facebook page.
